How It Works

The core concepts behind how raw records become structured, living context.

Overview

Memory Lake was created to remove the pressure of shaping every paragraph before you begin. Instead of planning the whole document in advance, you feed the system rough notes, stray facts, fragments, and half-formed ideas.

The app keeps that source material intact and gradually turns it into a clearer document that still reflects your intent.

Records

Each addition is stored as a record: the raw text you send, like a text message.

Records are never rewritten. They remain the source material Memory Lake uses to assemble the document, and you can delete, copy, or move them between memories when needed.

Memories

A memory is the formed context of a matter. It can begin with one rough thought and grow into a project brief, journal entry, decision log, research summary, plan, or reusable document.

Each memory is built from records and shaped by a template.

Templates

At the heart of Memory Lake are templates: instructions that decide how new information is merged, organized, and presented.

Every memory carries its own template, so the app always knows how to absorb new material into that specific document. You can swap templates later and the document can reshape itself without losing the underlying source material.

Versions

Whenever you change a template or remove a record, Memory Lake creates a new version of the memory.

That makes experimentation safer because earlier states remain available when the latest result is not what you want.

Manual Editing

You can always open a memory and edit it directly: write paragraphs, rearrange sections, and refine the text yourself.

Once saved, those edits become the new baseline and Memory Lake continues building from them.

Cloud Sync & Multi-Device Access

Memory Lake syncs your memories across devices so you can capture information in one place and find it again elsewhere.

You do not have to wait for the document to finish updating before leaving the app. Once the record is accepted, the next device can pick up from there.

Privacy & Security

Memory Lake protects local data with encrypted storage and supports encrypted cloud memories when encryption is enabled.

Your source material remains yours, and Memory Lake does not sell your data or share it for advertising.
